Hugging the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Shenandoah National Park and its scenic Skyline Drive stretch 105 miles from Northeast to Southwest. Its borders span 8 counties, encompass a good bit of the long-distance Appalachian Trail and claim Hawksbill Mountain (at 4,051 feet) its highest peak.
Typical for mountainous regions of the Eastern, Mid-Atlantic woodland, Shenandoah is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Pine, Dogwood, Chestnut, Oak and Mountain Ash dot the landscape while a myriad of waterfalls contribute to its lush, rain forest-like appearance in many of its regions.
Over 200 species of birds and more than a handful of mammals make their home in the park and our Shenandoah National Park Map illustrates many. While grey fox, bobcats, raccoon and black bear roam the floor of the canvas, woodpeckers, tanagers, peregrines and owls take to the air.
The map also captures the essence of the human history in the park with illustrations like the Corbin Cabin and Rapidan Camp. Like all Xplorer Maps pieces, the Shenandoah National Park Map is not only a unique piece of hand-illustrated art, it's also geographically and historically accurate. The Shenandoah National Park Map has been approved by our partner in this project - the Shenandoah National Park Association. A percentage of each map sold will be donated to them and their efforts to preserve the majesty of the park.
