Grand Canyon National Park

Original, hand-drawn story map and accompanying gifts of Grand Canyon National Park by renowned Illustrator and Xplorer Maps Co-Founder, Chris Robitaille.

Although attracting visitors since the 1890’s, the main part of the Grand Canyon was not officially designated a National Park until 1919 and it wasn’t until 1975 that the entire length of the Inner Canyon was included. It also received designation as a World Heritage Site in 1979.

Although not the deepest nor longest, the Grand Canyon is arguably the most spectacular and certainly the most famous. Varying from 600 feet to 18 miles wide, with gorges as deep as 6,000 feet and approximately 277 miles long, the park encompasses over 1.2 million acres and attracts more than 4 million visitors annually.
