Lake Tahoe

Original, hand-drawn story map and accompanying gifts of Lake Tahoe by renowned Illustrator and Xplorer Maps Co-Founder, Chris Robitaille.

Formed during the Ice Age more than 2 million years ago, Lake Tahoe was originally inhabited by the Washoe Tribe of California and Nevada. Today, the area is renowned as a year-round recreation destination for millions of visitors. In addition to its spectacularly crystal clear water surrounded by the majestic Sierra Nevada, this freshwater lake can also lay claim to the following: largest alpine lake in North America; largest lake by volume in the U.S. after the 5 Great Lakes; the second deepest in the U.S. 

This artwork is the result of a collaborative partnership between Xplorer Maps and Tahoe Heritage Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the Lake Tahoe Basin (www.tahoeheritage.org). The original artwork has been donated to THF and proceeds from every product sold will be donated to this organization in perpetuity.
