Xplorer Maps Releases Hand-Illustrated Alaska State Map Featuring Stunning Landscapes, Mountainscapes and Wildlife

MISSOULA, MT – Xplorer Maps, the creators of hand-illustrated maps of national parks and travel destinations throughout the world, announced today that it has released the newest fine-art map, the Alaska State Map. With stunning Alaska landscapes and remarkable wildlife, illustrated by one of the world’s greatest wildlife realism artists, the map is the company’s most wild, dynamic and colorful rendering to date.

World-renowned artist Chris Robitaille, co-founder of Xplorer Maps, illustrated the Alaska map using an antique, old-world style and featuring the diverse terrain of open spaces, the amazing scenery and the magnificent wildlife that captures people’s hearts and sparks their sense of adventure.  With a land mass larger than Texas, California and Montana – and more coastline than the U.S. combined – Alaska is by far the largest state in the U.S. but the most sparsely populated, with 0.9 people per square mile.

“My brother and I have been wanting to tackle the rendering of an Alaska state map for a few years now,” according to Greg Robitaille, president and co-founder of Xplorer Maps.  “We get a strong sense that residents and visitors alike cannot help but be incredibly moved by its soul, its character and its pride. From spotting soaring eagles and sea-faring whales to roaming polar bears and fishing Kodiaks – and from sea kayaking the glacial fjords to cruising the Inside Passage – it would be hard to experience all of Alaska in a lifetime, yet Chris has managed to highlight many of these amazing features.”

Xplorer Maps will donate a percentage of proceeds in perpetuity from map sales to Public Lands Alliance member Alaska Geographic to support the organization’s ongoing efforts to conserve and protect the public lands of Alaska by connecting people and place.

“Illustratively, it was so exciting to create a hand-drawn map of a state where land and water are so inextricably linked,” Robitaille said. “It creates an artistic opportunity to explore these relationships and truly draw people into its mystique. Hopefully, we have managed to successfully convey this feeling.”

The Alaska State Map is available at select retail locations throughout Alaska and also at www.xplorermaps.com.
