Hawai'i: The Aloha State
Explore Hawai'i with our hand-drawn story map and gifts by Chris Robitaille. Known for its stunning beauty and rich biodiversity, Hawai'i is home to more endangered species than any other U.S. state.
Joining the Union on August 21, 1959, Hawai'i includes 8 main islands: Ni’ihau, Kaua’i, O’ahu, Moloka’i, Lāna’i, Kaho’olawe, Maui, and the "Big Island." The archipelago stretches 1,500 miles across the Pacific Ocean, 2,000 miles from the U.S. mainland.
Originally settled by Polynesians between 124 and 1120, Hawai'i was once an independent nation. Today, it’s a top global destination, celebrated for its unique culture, warm climate, and breathtaking landscapes.
