The richly illustrated map follows Puget Sound from Whidbey Island and Port Townsend south through Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia, capturing the intricate network of islands, inlets, waterways, and coastal communities that define the region. Familiar Pacific Northwest landmarks include the Seattle Space Needle, Pike Place Market, Point No Point Lighthouse, Admiralty Head Lighthouse, Mukilteo Lighthouse, and Mount Rainier.

Throughout the artwork, illustrations of orcas, humpback whales, bald eagles, sea lions, otters, salmon, starfish, crabs, and other marine life celebrate the extraordinary ecosystem of the Salish Sea. Ferries, sailboats, kayaks, and working vessels add another layer to the story of a region shaped by its connection to the water.
