Established in 1919 as Utah’s first National Park, Zion is currently the most visited in the state with approximately 4 million guests annually.



For millions of years, the Virgin River has dramatically carved Zion Canyon and because of its varied temperature ranges and varying amounts of sun and water, Zion boasts a diversity of habitats including desert, riparian, pinyon-juniper, and conifer woodland communities; all influenced by nearby areas including the Colorado Plateau, Basin and Range, and Mojave Desert.
