First discovered in the late 1700’s by the Spanish explorers, the Bay area today supports one of America’s densest urban settlements with approximately 8 million residents and is renowned for its diverse cultures, ocean environment, world-class attractions and iconic architecture. As the largest Pacific estuary in the America’s, the main part of the Bay stretches up to 12 miles east-to-west and some 60 miles north-to-south and the area attracts millions of visitors annually from around the world.
